Palmetto Bug vs Cockroach
Palmetto bugs are a cockroach that is found in the Southeastern United States, particularly South Carolina and Florida. They are often called palmetto bugs because they live in and around Palmetto trees, a tropical plant with fan-like leaves. These pests can grow up to 3 inches long! There is no difference between a palmetto bug and an American cockroach. Palmetto bug is simply a regional term used to refer to this cockroach.
Palmetto bugs are American cockroaches. These large roaches can grow up to 50mm in length, and if you’ve seen one of these big guys darting across your kitchen floor then it may have just given you a heart attack! They prefer warm climates but would happily move into our homes to stay warm in the winter. American cockroaches can lay up to 100 eggs per case, and they like living near water sources such as leaky pipes or drains because it means they don’t need to walk far for a drink!
What do Palmetto Bugs eggs look like?

Palmetto Bugs Infestation?
A cockroach infestation is usually characterized by the presence of cockroaches present in the home. They leave behind droppings, hairs, and an unpleasant odor. A cockroach’s favorite hiding place is in tight cracks and crevices. They are attracted to small openings which allow them to move about freely.
One of the most common infestations in homes is located around cockroach entry points. Areas where plumbing fixtures are connected to walls, behind refrigerators or stoves, under sinks, and along baseboards are all prime areas for infestations. These places offer plentiful food sources as well as shelter from predators.
